Improving your equipment is one of the key features in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and, for the most part, you’ll be slaying monsters to obtain special materials. It’s worth noting that some materials can only be harvested once you’ve reached Master Rank, so make sure you’re at the appropriate level for the items you want to find. The Prized Pelt is one such Master Rank item, so we’ll look at how to get your hands on it last. The Pearlspring Macaque and Coral Pukei-Pukei are easier to find, and the good news is you only need to fight one of them - the Pearlspring Macaque can be captured instead.
Where to find the Pearlspring Macaque
The quest that goes along with finding the cute little Pearlspring Macaque is called Pearl Snatchers. Pearlspring Macaques can be found in Hoarfrost Reach and you can capture it by using the Capture Net. You’ll be able to find them chilling in and around the hot springs at Area 2, Area 6, Area 13 and Area 17. Once you’ve captured six or seven of these little furballs, you’ll be able to craft the Pearlspring Alpha+ headgear - or rather, one will sit on your head and give you 120 defence and an ice defence boost. You’ll also need two Thick Bones and two Prized Pelts, which you can see how to get down below.
Where to find Coral Pukei-Pukei
This bird wyvern beast can be found in the Coral Highlands and are linked to the Play Both Ends Master Rank Quest. They’re weak to ice, thunder, dragon and fire but are resistant to water damage, so plan your attack carefully. Once defeated, you’ll be able to craft the Coral Pukei-Pukei Carves. There’s also a chance it’ll drop Fierce Dragonvein Bone, Hydrated Sack and Smooth Icehide. It shoots water out of its butt like a jet, so be prepared to dodge a lot to avoid it.
Where to find Prized Pelt
There are at least three monsters than drop Prized Pelts when you reach Master Rank, namely the Kelbi, Popo and Anteka. The Kelbi can be found in Wildspire Waste and the Coral Highlands, whereas the Popo and Anteka can be found in Hoarfrost Reach. These monsters are relatively small and not difficult to beat, though they can be hard to spot and can flee quickly. The Prized Pelt can be used to craft all manner of Master Rank items, and can also be used for the Rally charms. And that’s it!
